After years of wandering the halls of punk, funk, rock and reggae as a youth in NJ, Boston, and DC, Matthew Gordon emerged on the Philadelphia music scene in 1995 exploring the most ancient roots of folk, blues, mediocrity now balanced by the relative rarity of the resonator-guitar sound.
Matt is active w/ The Hoppin’ Boxcars, and hs own band Silvershade Scenery. For more info – click HERE
You likely first heard Jess Ehinger during her years of singing supporting vocals for Philly local bands like A Fistful of Sugar and The Brad Hinton Band, her high harmonies adding sweetness and edge to folk and country music. Jess Ehinger has performed on stages all over Philadelphia from Johnny Brenda’s to the now defunct Tin Angel and large festivals like the Philadelphia Folk Festival and the Wayne Music Festival. After years of performing in the background, she stepped to the front of the stage with her former band, No Good Sister, where her love of writing sassy songs with a vintage country feel met her passion for arranging and singing tight female three-part harmonies. After taking time away from performing to have a baby, she recently returned to the stage with her new band, Yonder Hearts, singing a mix of original Americana songs and covers you never knew were country songs. UAC is an American/Roots Band that sings songs about the City. The band started about 10 years ago with Jefferson Berry enlisting one of the biggest Jim Croce fans ever: Dave Brown. DB has since married Cara Yahlring, the second biggest Croce fan ever. Along with the UAC’s sterling bassist, Uncle Mike, the UAC will be paying fine tribute to one of Philly’s greatest songwriters. The Grizful Dead is a collaboration of rotating Philadelphia area musicians coming together to celebrate the music of The Grateful Dead. Led by the ubiquitous Chris ‘Griz’ Grunwald, the band takes listeners on a high energy journey into the mystical Dead catalog. For more info – click HERE
An accomplished singer-songwriter, Ray co-founded the well-known Philadelphia area-based rock band “The Manatees.” They released their first album, High Water in 1990. In 1993 he struck out on his own, writing and performing in three solo albums: You Are The Love (1993), Atma Gita (1996), and Starting to See (2010). His latest album Here I Am (2016) is inspired, in part, by his experience as Music Director at NewChurch LIVE in Bryn Athen, Pennsylvania. Now Ray and a group of musicians, each accomplished in their own right, have collaborated on a special project, creating “One Man Dog” — a James Taylor tribute band, named for James Taylor’s 1972 album.
