Singer-songwriter Tatyana Kalko wants to soothe your heart and make you cry at the same time. Born in Belarus and currently residing in NYC, Tatyana has been a student of Method Acting, a recreational interpretive dancer and poet, a seeker of transcendence and an advocate for inner healing through self-expression and acceptance. Tatyana fosters a love for sincere yet irreverent storytelling and uplifting old world melodies, influenced by the likes of Anton Chekhov, Leonard Cohen, and The Beatles. A classically trained singer and self-taught guitarist and piano player, Tatyana embraces contemporary sounds alongside her rich Slavic and Jewish heritage, performing everything from acoustic folk and electro-pop to jazz standards, French chanson, and Russian and Yiddish classics. Her songwriting was recently featured on the CW show ‘Riverdale’ and has garnered over 200,000 plays on Spotify. Tatyana regularly performs with The Shul Band of NY and is an Artist in Residence with the non-profit UR2.Global.

Vlada Brofman was born and raised in Moscow, and spent the second part of her life in the US, mostly on the East coast. Fully fluent in English, Russian, and French, she appears equally at home in different musical traditions: world music, jazz, French chanson, and the lyric-centered vision of singer-songwriters. Her primary training in acting (with Moscow theatre director Semen Rivkin) has been complemented by jazz voice lessons with Berklee teachers. A versatile vocalist and guitarist, Vlada has a “voice of verve and sass” (Shauna Erlbaum, thenoise-boston.com) and projects the utmost attention to the delivery of lyrics and a magnetic charisma. Her interpretations of songs are always sensitive and filled with drama. Each song comes alive with a new persona, giving the listener “a sensation of being at a feast, or witnessing a minor wonder, of which you should remember every second” (Aleksey Kartashov). Vlada’s voice turns your head and entices, tempts and teases, grieves and confides in you” (Slava Gerovich). Turning every song into a mini-play, she also shows great tastefulness in repertoire choices, reimagining well-known songs and, more recently, performing her originals in Russian and English.

The Shul Band of NY

The concert will be broadcast in both HD and 360°/Virtual Reality simultaneously so audiences can enjoy a completely immersive experience. Once you purchase your ticket you will receive a link to watch the performance as many times as you wish once it is premiered on the livestream broadcast.   Though you do not need a headset to enjoy the performances, it will greatly enhance your experience.
